écrire la grammaire visuelle de l'Open Data
Designers, graphistes, esthètes... et plus largement tous les apôtres du raffinement visuel : participez à libérer l'Open Data de sa 'prison graphique' pré-soviétique, façon frères Wachoski ! Aidez nous à faire de l'ouverture des données un sujet beau et ergonomique en diable !
Le but n'est pas seulement de faire de l'Open Data quelque chose de franchement sexy : il s'agit surtout de permettre au plus grand nombre de naviguer avec aisance dans l'océan des données ouvertes, et d'en faciliter l'appropriation.
Notre arme fatale ? des pictogrammes, évidemment (Mel Gibson n'y avait pas pensé). Parce qu'utiliser des icônes et des symboles, ça reste le meilleur moyen de faire de l'Open Data un langage universel, en abolissant toute barrière de langue, de culture et de compétences.
Concrètement, comment ça se passe ? On organise un grand raout/workshop d'une journée, baptisé Iconathon. Au cours de ce workshop, ouvert à tout individu doté de bon goût, on travaillera collectivement à griffonner ces fameux pictogrammes. Et on boira quelques verres de Breizh Cola.

Wanted: icons for open data
Five by Five is teaming up with the Noun Project to give Open Data its own graphic symbols. Not everyone speaks English, but even less people speak Tech. Luckily, we have icons as a powerful tool to overcome all sorts of communication barriers. That's why we're (pro . udly!) putting together an event a.k.a. an 'IconLocal' to add to the public domain a graphic symbol that will do just that.
IconLocals are one-day workshops where participants sketch ideas and concepts and refine them either on-site or later from their homes or design studios. All designs will be submitted to the Noun Project for curation. Any symbol that fits the design standards will be uploaded to the Noun Project's site for anyone to use.
Because symbols are meant to guide the public, we believe that it's important to involve the public in the design process to ensure that new symbols have the highest level of user comprehension. Whether you're a graphic designer, a city staffer, a technologist or someone who read about open data in the news for the first time this morning, you're welcome to come join us. No superpowers needed.
